Devyn Peterson Second in Abe Lincoln Memorial at US 30
Devyn Peterson ventured US 30 Speedway (Columbus, Neb.) on Friday afternoon to pilot his Hope Group LLC No. 5D IMCA Northern SportMod for the two-day Abe Lincoln Memorial.
With results from a pair of heat races on Friday setting the grid for Saturday's main event, Peterson followed up a convincing flag-to-flag victory in his first heat with a seventh-to-third run in the second round.
Rolling off on the front row Saturday night's $2,515-to-win Abe Lincoln Memorial finale, Peterson led laps 6-22 before ultimate finishing second in the 25-lapper. He wrestled away the lead from Arie Schouten on the fifth circuit but couldn't contain a charging Robbie Thome in the closing laps. Peterson finished 0.821 seconds behind Thome with Justin Svoboda, David Johnson, and Lukas Pohlman rounding out the top-five.
